25 Days Of Christmas: The Ultimate Holiday To-Do List

“Christmas is the day that holds all time together.”

-Alexander Smith

It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Ahhh.

All the time off from work, the gifts, the presence (see what I did there?), the sparkle, the fun. I love love love Christmas, y’all. Like, way too much.

If you’re like me, you want to make the most of this holiday season, so here’s a little list I put together of things that will keep your month merry and bright:

  1. Bake holiday cookies (with sprinkles and in fun shapes, obviously).
  2. Drive by and look at Christmas lights throughout your town.
  3. Spend a night decorating the house and tree with your family.
  4. Watch Elf, Christmas With The Cranks, Home Alone, It’s A Wonderful Life, or another seasonal choice.
  5. Sit by a crackling fire and read a book while drinking something hot.
  6. Kiss someone you love under the mistletoe.
  7. Play board games, and don’t be competitive. Just enjoy it!
  8. Start a new tradition.
  9. Give your time, energy, money, or love to something bigger.
  10. Take family photos.
  11. Eat gingerbread men, candy canes, or one of those three-kinds-of-popcorn tins.
  12. Wear your pajamas all day and don’t feel guilty.
  13. Make the house smell like the season.
  14. Unwrap a tiny present every single day counting down to Christmas (like a book).
  15. Make s’mores. Yummmm.
  16. Have a snowball fight (and win).
  17. Visit a cabin and get snowed in. Bonus points if there’s a hot tub.
  18. Wear something with all the glitter and all the sparkles.
  19. Buy something fuzzy and cozy (socks, blanket, jammies) and bask in the comfort.
  20. Make a list of people and things for which you are grateful.
  21. Unplug and have a tech free day. Look at faces instead of screens.
  22. Make a holiday playlist and dance around the house to it.
  23. Tell or show someone important in your life how much you appreciate them.
  24. Pair down items in the house and make space for new things (like memories).
  25. Visit a farm, plantation, or other Christmas-themed locale (hello, Biltmore) at night and be awed.

What is your favorite holiday tradition?

Until next time, lifers.
